Our North Star

At Cloud City Mountain Sports, we believe that great kids grow through great experiences in sport.

We do what we do because we’ve seen what happens when a young person finds a place where they belong—where they are challenged, supported, encouraged to try something hard, and surrounded by people who believe in them.

For us, skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking are more than sports. They are tools for building confidence, resilience, friendships, independence, and a lifelong connection to the outdoors. The finish line matters, but so does everything that happens on the way there: learning to fall and get back up, cheering for a teammate, pushing through a tough day, setting a goal, and discovering that you are capable of more than you thought.

We want every kid in our community to have the opportunity to experience that.

We believe access to outdoor sports shouldn't depend on a family's income, experience, or ability to navigate the system. We work to create programs where kids can show up, find their people, develop their skills, and grow into confident, capable humans—on the mountain and off.

Our North Star is simple: create great experiences in sport that help young people become great humans.

We want our athletes to leave CCMS with more than race results, medals, or technical skills. We hope they leave with confidence in themselves, respect for others, a love of the outdoors, and the belief that they can take on hard things.

That’s why we’re here. And that’s what guides everything we do.

It is the mission of Cloud City Mountain Sports to provide youth from Lake and Chaffee counties the opportunity to excel as people and athletes through education and outdoor sports. We foster a love of outdoor recreation and educate youth about the value of sport and competition.

Mission

Our vision is to produce lifelong athletes who are committed to personal growth, focus on achieving individual goals in or out of competition through structured training, and who respect their community and their peers.

Vision

Our programs:

  • Collaborate with local and regional partners to ensure that there are program options for all athletes.

  • Help each athlete be in the program that will lead to the most success.

  • Prepare athletes to move into more intense competitive environments and help to guide them to these opportunities when they are ready.

  • Have quality coaches who provide developmentally appropriate training and skill development by being process- rather than results-focused.

  • Be financially sustainable while being accessible to all.

  • Promote and value diversity, compassion, commitment, and character.

  • Will include athletes from outside Lake and Chaffee counties as resources allow.
